S7-200 Tips : Using Freeport

The timed interrupts are used to generate a flash rate. Turning on input I0.1 reduces the flashing frequency by half of the flash rate. Turning on input I0.0 restores the original flashing frequency. 
This example clarifies handling timed interrupts in general and changing the time interval.

The Siemens S7 MPI Device Driver was designed specifically for use with 32 bit OPC server products running on Intel microprocessor based computers. This driver is intended for use with Siemens S7 300 and 400 PLCs communicating via the MPI interface. For operating system (OS) requirements, please refer to the OPC server help documentation.

Alternative Siemens Timers for S7-300 and S7-400 PLCs

This document provides an overview on timers that can be used as an alternative to the S5 style timers or even the IEC style times SFB4 and SFB5 (TON and TOF). The S5 style timers are count down timers, and require a preset time data type of S5TIME#10S for a 10 second count down timer. The IEC style timers are count up timer, and require a preset time data type of T#10S for a 10 second timer. If you are using a non-Siemens HMI, then these data types are sometimes difficult to use as a numerical input of a screen.

Interface-Cable for S7 V1.6

MPI/PPI-Kabel 9350 for Simatic S7-200 up to S7-400
Please connect the cable to the serial port (Com-Port) of your pc and to the MPI- or PPI-Port of your plc. After, the cable has be started, you can see in the display of the cable how much devices and their address are connected to the bus. In your S7- programming software you should configure following:
 

Siemens S7-300/400: [STEP7]
Under options > Set PG/PC Interface… please select the driver “PC-Adapter MPI]” and configure it like the properties of the mpi-bus. If your software don’t have this driver, you should have to install it now. You don’t need the software CD, the driver is included in your Siemens software. You should press the button “Add/remove” in this menu. You can also install the driver called “MPI-Speed” (see link to the homepage) to your system. This driver allows to communicate serial up to 115K2 Baud. The original driver “PC-Adapter [MPI]” only provides baudrates up to 38K4 baud.
