How to Use the PID Loop Instruction

Special Hardware Requirements:  

  • One S7-200 PLC (CPU 215 or CPU 216)
  • One EM235 expansion module, analog combination AI 3/AQ 1 x 12 bits
  • One TD 200 (version 1.1 or later)
  • One TD/CPU Cable (included with TD 200)

The following S7-200 program provides an example of how to use the PID Loop instruction. The example includes the operator interface for driving a SIMATIC TD 200 text display, a process simulation routine that provides a large delay, both an analog output value and a digital output for duty cycle control, and high and low level alarm limits on the process variable (PV).
